Environmental: Minimising Impact, Promoting Sustainability

Our state-of-the-art processing facility in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is built for efficiency and sustainability. Through thermal recovery systems, we repurpose heat from refrigeration for curing, significantly reducing energy use. With 1.44 MW of installed solar power, energy-efficient motors, LED lighting, and smart control systems, we continually lower our carbon footprint. Cleaner fuel choices further enhance sustainability. Our Napasol pasteurisation system runs on Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), while our biomass boiler uses macadamia shells as a renewable energy source. Water conservation is equally important. A purification system transforms river water into safe, potable water, supported by greywater recycling for irrigation. Careful monitoring ensures responsible use.

Nothing goes to waste. Husks and shells return to the soil or fuel biomass energy, while we work closely with farmers who prioritise soil health, biodiversity, bee protection, water efficiency, and integrated pest management.

Social: Empowering People and Communities

Global Macadamias plays a vital role in rural development by creating stable jobs where they are needed most. Around 75% of our seasonal workforce are women, strengthening livelihoods and promoting gender inclusion. By offering fair, secure employment, we support families and contribute to sustainable community growth.

Our Napasol pasteurisation system ensures a validated, chemical-free kill step, giving customers absolute confidence in product safety.
